Gideon Preiss is a pianist, composer and producer based in Melbourne Australia who's unique touch and sound can be heard on countless recordings.
Having co-written and co-produced four critically acclaimed albums alongside his cousin in the beloved band Husky, Gideon has recently embarked on a journey to explore his deep and haunted love of the piano and composition.
His new collection of solo piano works are a window into the dreamy, melancholic, joyful and sad inner-world of the composer. 'The Lonely Hotelier' touches on themes of alienation and nostalgia. The loneliness that one can feel in the company of others, the feeling of longing without knowing what it is that you're longing for. The result is a gorgeous and hypnotic album that invites the listener to wander the landscape that is at once rich and unadorned.
Gideon has written for film and Television and continues to perform, write and hone his skills as a pianist, composer, producer and songwriter in Melbourne Australia.
More recently Gideon has been included as a member of the famous Woodstock Studios team where he brings his engineering, composition and arranging skills to the many projects captured in the world class studio.
He is also a founding member of the The Bashevis Singers and Di Farborgene Khalyastre - the Hidden Group - a collective of artists creating new fusions of Yiddish poetry, music and art. He is also a core member of local underground cult band Jazz Party.
